Dixie and Ron’s Story

What’s the best thing about your house?

It’s movable. You can’t collect much junk. Didn’t bother me at all getting rid of virtually everything. It still doesn’t bother me.

Everything we own is in there. Something new goes in, something old goes out. It has a water heater, a heater, and AC, and if it goes out, you replace it. Tires have to be replaced every 10 years and that’ll cost $4,000. If we travel every day, it’s $100 a day for fuel to drive. But, we don’t drive every day.

Housing plays a critical role in our physical, mental and emotional health. With stable housing, kids are healthier and better prepared to learn and grow, older adults can live with dignity as they age, and our neighbors can go to their jobs ready to be productive and help our communities thrive. When we look out for one another, we all see #TheNetBenefit.
