Funding for the Future

We're on the lookout for new ideas and innovative thinking. We want to partner with organizations that approach health issues from a new perspective, but always keep the well-being of Missourians at the heart of their work. Join us in our cause!

Exemplary Advocate Cohort – Facilitator (Request for Proposals)

We are looking for an independent Facilitator to assist in coordinating the Foundation’s first Exemplary Advocate Cohort (of up to 15 advocacy organizations). The Facilitator will work closely with our staff to develop the cohort’s experience. At the same time, the Facilitator will promote a relationship between the Cohort and the Foundation.

The Facilitator will empower cohort members with a goal of aligning and coordinating the field, building their capacity to influence decision-makers, and creating urgency around issues of health and well-being in our state.

Exemplary Advocate Cohort – Evaluation & Learning (Request for Proposals)

The Foundation is seeking an external evaluator to design and implement a five-year evaluation of our new Exemplary Advocate Cohort’s development and outcomes.

At the onset of this work, the evaluator will work collaboratively with the Foundation to determine what it might look like to achieve our intended outcomes. While we do not anticipate the need for intensive data collection, the evaluation design should follow this cohort over five years, exploring the extent to which the cohort achieves the outcomes and determining the contributions and hinderances to success.

Exemplary Advocate Cohort - Request for Applications

This Request for Application invites organizations actively working in the field of health, willing to embrace advocacy, to apply for the inaugural Exemplary Advocate Cohort.

We will invest in organizations that have experience in advocacy and are ready to rise to the level of exemplary in their practice. Organizations and their advocates should recognize the importance of building cross-sector teams, fostering diversity of thought, and adopting a health equity lens.

Opportunity Fund

We believe that the best strategies to address community health issues often come directly from our communities. Through our Opportunity Fund we’re offering the chance for visionary thinkers to tell us their best ideas with the hope of making them a reality. We aim to foster generative conversations — encouraging community members to share their hopes for a healthier region, while providing guidance and making connections that can help bring their ideas to life.

The Opportunity Fund has a rolling deadline, with applications read as they are received.

Important Note on General Support for Advocacy (GSA) Grants in 2017

Started in 2004, the GSA program has provided flexible funding to strengthen health advocacy organizations and ensure grantees are able to respond to health policy issues in a timely and systemic way. Currently, the MFH Board of Directors, Community Advisory Council, and staff are reviewing the Foundation’s approach and strategies to support health advocacy and policy in Missouri.
