Aligned Activities Funding - Infant Mortality (Request for Proposals - St. Louis)
Apply for funding to support new and existing projects that promote policy and systems changes that reduce infant mortality in St. Louis.
About the Infant Mortality Reduction Initiative (IMRI)
The IMRI addresses the disproportionately high rates of infant death in portions of St. Louis and the six counties that make up Missouri’s Bootheel. In both areas MFH has developed and implemented collaborative, community-driven efforts that actively engage community members and key stakeholders in the planning and implementation of equity-focused infant mortality reduction strategies.
The collective impact effort in St. Louis is called FLOURISH STL (powered by Generate Health). The effort works to eliminate racial disparities in infant mortality in the region by 2033. Achieving this goal means 81 more black babies would celebrate their first birthday every year and the community would become a place where all families can flourish. FLOURISH is bringing together people and organizations from all parts of the region to fix the systems that impact the health of black families.
What are Aligned Activities?
Aligned Activities are projects that align with FLOURISH’s priorities and racial equity approach to promote policy and systems change in high impact ZIP codes where the infant mortality and birth outcomes are the worst in St. Louis. The priority areas identified are Coordinated Quality Care, Safe Sleep, and Social Determinants of Health (Housing and Transportation). Projects may include pilot projects, policy analyses, advocacy campaigns, and data systems to coordinate services.
