We are excited and proud to share our latest work with you. In 2014, we did so much to improve the health of the people and communities we serve. Missouri Foundation for Health enhanced its efforts by taking risks and entering new areas to have greater impact, and we've made notable strides within our program and policy work.
MFH launched a new identity and released messaging and a logo that truly highlights what we do and who we are. We are a catalyst for change, and for us, this means that we are listening to communities, investing in systems and helping our partners cultivate their best ideas. Through our Healthy Schools Healthy Communities initiative, schools are leading the way to a decline in childhood obesity. The increase in Missourians with health coverage is boosting the overall wellbeing of the state. We're focused on access to oral health care in rural areas and thousands of infants are getting a better chance at a healthy life. As part of our Responsive Portfolio, community-identified health needs are being addressed, and we are strengthening the capacity of nonprofits within 84 counties and the city of St. Louis.
Our Health Policy area continues to focus on being a fact-based source of non-partisan information for policymakers, advocates and the general public. In 2014, Policy projects included work toward increasing health equity across the state.
MFH has and will continue to take a multifaceted approach to health issues, understanding that programs, policy and education all play a role in creating lasting change. With our partners, we're providing experience, knowledge and funding to improve the health of Missourians. We're changing things!

Thank you for reviewing our 2014 annual report. This document offers insight into how Missouri Foundation for Health's grantmaking is changing communities throughout the state for the better. The report showcases the progress we've made this year in implementing our strategic plan and highlights some of the co-funding collaborations that are helping us carry out important work in the region.
It has been a pleasure to play a role at the Foundation and an honor to serve as board chair. I have been able to witness first-hand the incredible passion of MFH's dedicated staff and have participated in making difficult decisions as how best to direct our efforts to maximize our impact. Even with such a great team, we would have accomplished very little without our amazing grantees and partners. They play a vital role in moving our mission forward in a multitude of ways and helped us to accomplish a great deal!
This report exists for multiple reasons. It is uplifting to look back on all of our accomplishments and the great work that we do. This document also serves as an important piece of accountability for us, not just financially, but from a mission perspective as well. It is critical to ask ourselves: Are we striving every day in the most efficient, impactful way possible to improve the health of the underserved in our region? Are we listening to our communities, ensuring that they have a voice in expressing their needs? Are we working on multiple fronts, from the grassroots level up to helping those hoping to enact policy change at the state level? Are we living up to our ideal of being a true resource for the region? I am proud to say that this report illustrates how we are holding firm to our ideals and to our mission. We will continue to strive toward making Missouri a healthier place.
