MoCAP Provides Targeted Assistance to Missouri Organizations

Missouri Capture (MoCAP) was established in 2010 to increase national funding for Missouri nonprofits and governmental organizations focused on health and health-related efforts. A combination of grant writing consultation and technical assistance has captured over $435 million for the state since inception. These funds provide a jump start to help organizations build capacity, empowering them to be sustainable for years to come. Don’t forget, MoCAP services are free.

A large percentage of clients seek help with grant applications to the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). That organization reached out after realizing that Missouri organizations have won more grants than in other states, connecting the increase in funding to MoCAP services. The program’s success is getting noticed, which is a testament to its strength, longevity, and role as a catalyst for health equity in Missouri. Assisting organizations in capturing these funds is just one of the ways that MFH works to create systems change. Visit the FAQ page to learn more.

Impactful Leadership Changes at MFH

A season of growth and change is underway, and we’ve shared news on leadership updates at all levels in the past few months. We welcomed six new directors to the Board from across Missouri, who will work with returning members to provide fiduciary oversight and advise on organization strategy through a governance lens. The MFH Executive Team saw new additions with the hiring of Julie Russell, who joined us as the Foundation’s Chief Strategy Officer, succeeding Kristy Klein Davis. Mark Seebeck stepped into the role of Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, while Jill Nowak was installed as the Executive Vice President of Impact Investing, a new position at the Foundation. Read the press release to understand how these roles support the aspirational vision of our CEO, Dr. Dwayne Proctor, to achieve health equity in Missouri by 2033.

It's Electrifying: Public Charging Stations Support Sustainability

As an organization, MFH has identified environmentally conscious decision making as a critical concern. As we address the health of the region, we look for ways to encourage environmental accountability in our partnerships; we want to model environmental stewardship and #walkthewalk. This led to the installation of eight level two charging stations on our campus for public use, at no cost, and we’re excited to share this resource with our neighbors in The Grove and visitors to the Show-Me State. The move dovetails with national calls to expand charger access nationwide. Electric vehicles can help improve fuel economy, lower fuel costs, and reduce emissions. If you’ve considered getting a back-up generator, keep in mind that EVs can power your house.
