MFH released “Medical Debt in Missouri,” a report that paints a stark picture of financial hardship, stress, and compromised health due to mounting medical bills.

MFH worked with the Milken Institute of Public Health and George Washington University to create “Growing and Sustaining Community Health Workers in Missouri.” Brian Washington, Strategist-Initiatives, wrote a blog expounding on the importance of CHWs across the state.

Cracks in the Foundation: Philanthropy’s Role in Reparations for Black People in the DMV,” a recent report from the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy, asks funders to grapple with the unique role of philanthropic wealth origins in past societal harms. Dwayne is the current Board Chair and shared a quote for the report.

Samantha helped the Foundation become an approved 501(c)(4) employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program and is sharing that knowledge with other employers who want to make the leap. 

MFH Education Day

MFH Education Day is an annual opportunity for current grantees to meet with elected officials to discuss their funded project’s successes and challenges. This year, six grantees attended: Central Missouri Community Action, Burrell, Webster County Health Unit, Missouri Rural Health Association, Operation Food Search, Memory Care Solutions, and Fresh Start Improvement.

MFH staff were excited to collaborate. Attendees included: Jennifer Carter Dochler, Director of Government Affairs; Melanie Theriault, Health Policy Coordinator; Chelsea Zabski, Community Liaison-Northeast; Sarah Moody, Director of Community Relationships; and Sheldon Weisgrau, Vice President of Health Policy and Advocacy.
