Accessibility is at the Heart of Our New Website

On behalf of everyone at Missouri Foundation for Health, we’re thrilled to show off our new website! We hope you love our updated look as much as we do, but the changes you see are more than skin deep. Through more than a year of development, we’ve worked to make our site more flexible, more usable, and above all else – more accessible for people with disabilities.

While over 26% of American adults live with a disability, only around 3% of the web is accessible. Our new site reflects our commitment to equity by ensuring that people with disabilities can access MFH’s resources, opportunities, and information. We partnered with Level Access to integrate best practices and testing into the site from the ground up. This included using an array of tools and software, but more importantly, live testing by individuals with real accessibility needs. The new site works toward conforming to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines’ version 2.1, Level AA criteria. Enhancements include meeting requirements for color contrast, alternative descriptive text for images, and improved screen-reader compatibility.

Other updates for our website include a more robust repository for publications and reports, heightened prominence for translation and interpretation services, and a new section showcasing some of MFH’s Legacy Endeavors. The site has also seen an aesthetic overhaul and now features more imagery of real Missourians as well as a new focus on place – highlighting the need for geographic equity as well as the beauty that the state has to offer.

If you haven’t already, we invite you to explore our refreshed website at mffh.org and learn more about our mission, vision and core values, changemaking tools, and more.
