This is Changemaking Now, a collection of Foundation stories that highlight our commitment to achieving health equity in Missouri.

Every community deserves a food system that delivers healthy, affordable food grown by people they can trust.

Too often, that's not what we get. When a handful of corporations control the food supply, profit comes first and communities pay the price. Recent outbreaks in the food system this summer remind us how far food travels, and how little control communities have over it, before it reaches our tables.

Across Missouri, community leaders are working tirelessly to transform that system by growing and strengthening local, sustainable food networks built on health and community, not distance and scale.

In this issue of Changemaking Now, we're spotlighting seven grantees doing exactly that work. Read their stories then find their food. Support a local grower, shop a farmers' market, or join a food co-op near you.
