In May 2023, Missouri Foundation for Health and its partners conducted the Missouri Firearm Attitudes and Behavior Study of over 1,800 Missouri adults to understand firearm-related beliefs, attitudes, perceptions, and behaviors within the state. This report explores firearm-related attitudes and behaviors among parents who personally own firearms or who live in a household with a firearm. These include firearm storage and training behaviors, perceptions of firearm safety, and attitudes about access to firearms among children. These findings can serve as a basis for designing evidence-based firearm injury prevention strategies that resonate with parents and address their unique concerns.
