In the final report from this year’s Speak Up MO public opinion poll, Missourians express strong support for effective ways to strengthen their communities and foster healthier environments. When asked to rank the importance of various factors for making a community healthy, the majority of participants identified each factor as either “extremely important” or “very important.” These results underscore widespread agreement on the elements that contribute to a thriving community.
The findings tell us a lot about what matters most to Missourians when it comes to the well-being of their families and communities. Whether it’s having good jobs that offer fair wages and good benefits or living in a community where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, the desire for a better quality of life is universal.
Notably, there was broad consensus on these factors’ importance across demographic groups. While political affiliation did influence how certain issues were weighted – with Democrats generally assigning higher importance to many factors compared to independents and Republicans – the overall ranking remained largely consistent, highlighting shared values about what makes a strong and healthy community.
As we wrap up this Speak Up MO series, we are reminded of the power of listening to the voices of the people who call Missouri home. These insights highlight critical areas where action is needed to support the health and well-being of communities throughout the state. Now, the challenge lies in turning these shared priorities into meaningful actions – a challenge we are ready to meet in partnership with all of you.
We’d like to thank all the Missourians who participated in this important research. Your input is invaluable and will continue to guide us as we strive to build a healthier Missouri.
Looking ahead, the next Speak Up MO poll will begin in early 2025. We’d love to hear your feedback on this year’s poll and your ideas for future ones. Share your thoughts with us at info@speakupmo.org.
